Purpose: Tropical Hydration
Collection: ORGANIC COCONUT
The most exotic and tropical expedition of the PLANETA ORGANICA team was a trip to the Seychelles, surrounded by the emerald expanse of the Indian Ocean.
This place is able to amaze even the most sophisticated traveler with its unique natural beauty. But the subject of our attention was the coconut palm growing here in whole groves and the traditional process of obtaining natural coconut oil.
COCONUT OIL FOR SKIN AND HAIR BEAUTY
The value of coconut oil was first discovered in the 15th century in India. In those days, girls from wealthy Indian families used coconut oil for their hair, face, hands and body, maintaining their beauty and well-groomed.
The unrefined product perfectly nourishes and moisturises the hair, stimulating their growth. The oil is able to restore damaged strands, make them soft, silky, shiny and elastic.
Coconut oil soothes the skin, creating a thin, almost invisible protective layer on its surface. Does a great job of cleansing the skin. In the conditions of a modern city, it protects the skin from the effects of an aggressive environment, and under the rays of the hot sun protects it from UV radiation. Suitable for all skin types. Hypoallergenic.
THE TREE THAT GIVES EVERYTHING
The locals call the coconut palm "kalmavriksha", which translates as "the tree that gives everything." About coconuts and the miraculous properties of coconut oil, we were told by Jose and his wife, the indigenous people of the Seychelles, who own a small coconut farm.
Coconuts ripen 11 months after flowering. By this time, they reach up to 50 cm in size with a shell thickness of 1.2-1.5 cm. The coconut palm reaches a height of 25-40 meters, which is comparable to the height of a 9-storey building. After full maturation, they fall off or they are collected by real climbers.
First, the coconut flesh is dried under special conditions so that its moisture content does not exceed 7%. Then it is manually carefully separated from the shell.
Bulls are involved in the process of making coconut oil in the Seychelles. Already peeled coconut pulp is placed under the press. The bull walks in a circle and the millstone presses on the pulp, while squeezing out the oil. This method is called cold pressing and is traditional in the Seychelles.
SUMMING UP
When creating the Organic Coconut collection of cosmetics for tropical hair and body moisturizing, we used organic cold-pressed coconut oil from the Seychelles. It is obtained from coconuts that are grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, and the production process itself takes place without the participation of any chemicals. This method allows you to save all the best valuable and beneficial properties of coconut oil.
